Month of Mary

Month of May – Month of Mary: Listen on YouTube

My name  Samanthi, the marigold flower is “Mary’s gold”. And I begin the month of May with a dedication to our Blessed Mother Mary

Song of Marigold

Our Lady of eternal grace
In your ever loving embrace
A lasting peace is upon me
Love of Christ surrounds me

Our Lady of eternal grace
How beautiful is your holy face
Holy mother I return to thee
With your light help me see

Our Lady of eternal grace
Blessed lilies touch my face
As I was made in your name
Make me golden once again

Our Lady of eternal grace
In the fullness of God’s grace
As your flower and holy flame
Let me bloom to praise His name

Queen of Angels

queen-of-angelsShe rides with me – the beautiful Mother

Even in my solitude – a friend like no other

She crowns my hopes – with joys yet unseen

And brings to pass – each anointed dream

She tells me to smile – when I want to cry

The Queen of Angels – she lifts me up high

Sweetness of Mary

Mawaka Mihira – listen to the Sinhala rendition of this Hymn

As anguish rises in my heart
Across the lake of darkness
Filled with great affection
I go in search of Her

I feel the sweetness of Mary
Like the fragrance of a flower
I feel the sweetness of Mary
A motherly healing so familiar

When words blur on life’s pages
And the world seems distant
Listening with devotion
I go in search of Her

I feel the sweetness of Mary..

As my faith is illuminated
Firmer becomes my courage
In our songs of intention
I go in search of Her

I feel the sweetness of Mary..

Fires in my heart subside
Through the word of God
Wishes flow into creation
I go in search of Her

I feel the sweetness of Mary..

“Samanthi” is the marigold flower, which is named in honor of Mary the mother of Jesus and means “Mary’s gold”. So I dedicate this humble creation with the belief that I have a special anointing upon me from the Blessed mother and a definite connection to her through my name.

A Divine Paradise

Oh how joyful I am
To find a quiet place to pray
A divine paradise
In the middle of the day

St. Mary, kind and gentle
I am no more alone
As I kneel before your altar
In my heart, I am home

I was inspired to write this poem after visiting Old St. Mary’s Cathedral in San Francisco. Built in 1854 as the first cathedral in California, St Mary’s is a traditional Roman Catholic church, with all the charm  and resplendence of the churches I used to visit with my family back home in Sri Lanka.
